Press Release: Holiday Inn Express Pell City grand reopening after one million dollar makeover
PELL CITY — The Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Pell City held a re-grand opening recently after completing more than $1 million in renovations to the hotel.
“It’s a major difference,” said Eddy Landers, who is the director of sales for JREA Management, which manages the operations of the hotel on Vaughan Lane.
“We added this,” he said, walking into a store that shelves odds and ends for hotel guests in their home away from home. “We call it our pantry.”
Members of the Greater Pell City Chamber of Commerce, along with other guests, gathered at the hotel for the Chamber after Hours event. For many, it was the first time to see the makeover.
“We finished the work in February, but we still have a couple of items to complete (with the renovation),” said Nancy Gerety, who has been the general manager for the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Pell City for the past decade.
Gerety said the renovation included the spacious lobby, the breakfast room, meeting spaces and guest rooms.
The lobby and breakfast areas have community tables, work stations for people with laptop computers, and the hotel now has an office area for guests that’s equipped with a fax machine and two computers with internet access.
New carpet, drapes and flooring were installed in the 91-room hotel, which includes 18 suites with wet bars, sofa and a separate seating area.
Landers said all the bathrooms in the guest rooms were redone. He said 25 of the rooms are shower-only.
The hotel features a pool and fitness center with modern workout equipment.
The outdoor pool deck and the parking lot were resurfaced, and landscaping work was completed.
The hotel offers guests a hot breakfast each morning that includes eggs, meat, biscuits and gravy. Breakfast also features the hotel’s signature cinnamon rolls, found only at the Holiday Inn Express.
Gerety said the renovations come after a change in ownership. Jacob’s Realty of Lawrence, N.Y., bought the hotel two years ago.
The hotel is managed by JREA Management, which specializes in hospitality management throughout the United States, focusing primarily on the hotel industry but manages properties of varying sizes and types.
Gerety said the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Pell City is ranked in the top 10 among the regional hotels for the quality of guest services. She said the hotel caters to corporate visitors and family travelers, and serves people who visit the area for school reunions, family gathers and special events, like weddings and races at the Talladega Superspeedway.
“We’re generally booked out by groups during race week,” Gerety said.
